BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF AIMS AND CONTENT

1) To introduce the student to the concept and various theories of public governance.

2) To acquaint the student with the general principles of good governance.

3) To introduce the student to the various theories of civil society in a historical perspective.

4) To enable the student to comprehend the role of civil society organizations in present day democratic and participatory public governance.

5) To create awareness in the student of the legal and accountability challenges that may civil society organizations against public institutions of governance

Course image PAG2213: Public Institutions and Bureaucracy
Trimester 2

The module of "Public Institutions and Bureaucracy" aims to familiarize the student with the concept and nature of public institutions as opposed to other types of institutions and to equip the student with a solid knowledge of the merits and demerits of bureaucratic practices in the management of public institutions.

Course image PAG2211: Public Policy Making, Monitoring and Evaluation
Trimester 2

This module aims at empowering students undertaking a bachelor's programme in Governance and public Administration and equip them with concepts, theories and methods of public policy analysis that will help them not only to read and understand existing literature on public policy but also to unable them to assess  real public public policies and identify their strengths and shortcomings. Furthermore, students are introduced to the notion of complex decisions making processes related to public. We hope that students who will attend this course accordingly, read critically additional readings and participate actively in practical work (whether individual or group work) will be able to participate actively in real public policy making, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
