The purpose of this module is to equip student-teachers from mathematics combinations with the competence and confidence to help them to develop competences to successfully implement the mathematics competence-based curriculum (CBC) at both Ordinary and Advanced (O’ and A’) levels of secondary schools. It contains various themes including the foundation of teaching mathematics(philosophy and ethics), understanding of mathematics , CBC and its implementation in Rwanda, Methodology and key aspects of mathematics teaching and learning, Resources for learning and teaching mathematics, planning in teaching and learning of mathematics, Micro-teaching and Practicum.
This module aims at equipping student-teachers from mathematics combinations with the knowledge and confidence to help them to develop skills, attitudes and values to successfully implement the mathematics competence-based curriculum (CBC) at secondary schools. It introduces themes: determinants and system of linear equations; vector spaces; linear transformations and their representations by matrices; reduction of endomorphism; computational techniques, and applications of linear algebra.
The module aims to equip students with the knowledge and confidence to help them to develop skills, attitudes and values to successfully implement the mathematics CBC at secondary schools. This module enables students to review algebraic structures: groups, rings, modules, and fields; homomorphisms and isomorphisms; group actions, centralizers, normalizers, stabilizers, and kernels; cosets and Lagrange's theorem; conjugacy; normal subgroups and quotient groups; the Sylow theorem and applications; representations of a finite group.
