The module aims to provide students with knowledge and skills in various theories related to social psychology. It helps them learn about the concept and the historical background of social psychology. The module tackles the topics of self, social cognition, social perception, attitudes and attitude change, prejudice and discrimination, interpersonal attractions, social influence, group dynamics and group tensions, and conflicts as well as their application in education.
EDP2248 is a module taught to year 2 students in the combination of educational psychology. The module tackles different domains related to internal mental processes including attention, sensation, perception, memory, intelligence (human and artificial), etc. It also covers topics related to the brain as the main regulator of thinking, reasoning, judgement, problem solving... For a better understanding of cognitive aspects, topics such as planning and goal setting, cognitive control and inhibition, self-regulation and metacognition, consciousness... will be explored.
